UPDATE: TPD releases names of victim, suspect in July 4 fatal shooting

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The Tucson Police Department has released the names of both the victim and the suspect in a fatal shooting from July 4, on Tucson's east side.

TPD officers were dispatched at 5 p.m. Wednesday, to an apartment complex at 1039 North Alamo Avenue on the report of a shooting.

According to TPD, a caller to 911, identified as 56-year-old Gregory Walters, reported that he had shot his neighbor after a brief altercation. Officers located Walters in front of the complex and immediately took him into custody.

Officers then entered Walters' apartment, where he told them the shooting took place, and found 53-year-old Wade Lockwood on the floor with obvious gunshot wounds.

During the investigation detectives learned that Lockwood had been visiting with Walters in his apartment before the shooting occurred.

Walters has been booked into the Pima County Jail and faces second degree murder charges.
