UPDATE: Cumero fire near the U.S./Mexico border burned 3,825 acres, 80 percent contained

SASABE, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The wildfire burning southeast of Sasabe, known as the Cumero fire is at 3,825 acres and is 80 percent contained, according to the U.S. Forest Service.

Straddling the border of Mexico, the fire has burned 3,625 acres in the U.S. and 200 in Mexico, according to the U.S. Forest Service.

While Nogales Ranger District firefighters are still assessing the values at risk, Garcia Ranch and nearby communication towers are threatened.

The fire sparked on Thursday, July 5 near Sasabe and the cause is still under investigation.
