More than 12,000 customers without power Friday

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - There are more than 12,299 customers without power on Friday night, after a severe thunderstorm hit Tucson and surrounding communities.

According to the Tucson Electric Power Outage map, there are outages from as far north as Oracle and as far south as Green Valley and Sahuarita.

Here's a break down of areas & customers without power as of 10:26 p.m. Friday, July 27:

  • 78 - near Catalina Foothills area
  • 75 - near Saguaro National Park East
  • 252 - North of Vail
  • 944 - Between Nogales Highway and Wilmot Road
  • 2765 - near Pima Mine Road and I-19
  • 2046 - in Rancho Sahuarita
  • 1668 - in Rancho Sahuarita
  • 3444 - near Duval Mine Road and I-19
  • 943 - south of Green Valley
  • 84 - south of Corona de Tucson

Equipment damage seems to be the likely cause, according to the outage map.  Crews are working on restoring power.
