Tucson attorney, assistant facing host of federal charges

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - A Tucson attorney and his assistant were arrested Wednesday, Aug. 8 on a host of federal charges.

The FBI said a federal grand jury has indicted Rafael F. Gallego, 59, and his assistant Ricardo Gallego, 39, on charges of conspiracy to obstruct justice, conspiracy to commit false statements, obstruction of justice, accessory after the fact and conspiracy to tamper with a witness.

According to the indictment, the Gallegos knowingly helped a client facing drug trafficking charges avoid arrest and punishment. The two also allegedly provided false information to Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection and federal prosecutors.
