Late night service for the streetcar returns
TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Those who look forward to riding the SunLink streetcar as downtown activities increase and the University of Arizona begins the fall semester, will have even longer hours to do so.
Beginning Thursday, Aug. 16 and lasting through Saturday, Dec. 15, the Sun Link streetcar is offering late-night service on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights until 2 AM.
The schedule change is as follows:
Hours are being offered due to an increased demand and activity while the U of A is in its fall semester. Regular operating hours stay the same for Monday to Wednesday, they are from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
During U of A winter break, normal operating hours will return for Thursday to Saturday, and extended hours will run again from Jan. 10 to May 11, 2019 for the spring semester, according to Sun Tran.
To ride Sun Link, each passenger is required to validate their fare by tapping their SunGO Card or Ticket on the farebox, or showing the GoTucson Transit app to a fare enforcement officer when boarding the streetcar.
Students can purchase from a wide range of pass options for unlimited rides on Sun Link, and Tucson's regional transit system, which provides easy and economical access to campus, off-campus housing, shopping, restaurants, and more.
A 1-Day SunGO Ticket can be purchased for $4.50 at any one of the streetcar stops, or riders can purchase a SunGO Card online or at any sales outlet to add cash value or load a pass. The GoTucson Transit mobile app can also be downloaded to pay for a Single Boarding Fare, 1-Day, 3-Day or 30-Day Pass.
