Border Patrol catches, arrests convicted sex offender

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - In an arrest near Lukeville, AZ on Thursday morning, Aug. 16, Border Patrol agents with the Ajo Station discover and arrest two man from Mexico who were in the U.S. illegally, according to a CBP news release.

Criminal records revealed that 39-year-old Jose Real-Beltran was convicted in 2003 in Compton, California, and sentenced to one year in jail and five years of probation, for sexual intercourse with a minor under 18.

According to CBP Real-Beltran now faces criminal prosecution for re-entry as a felon, and both men face charges for immigration violations.

All persons apprehended by the Border Patrol undergo criminal history checks using biometrics to ensure illegal immigrants with criminal histories are positively identified.
