TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Arizona drivers are among the worst in the nation, according to SmartAsset.

The website looked at four metrics to rank the states: percent of drivers with insurance, number of DUIs per driver, average number of deaths per miles driven, and how often residents Google "traffic ticket" or "speeding ticket."

According to SmartAsset, Arizona's worst score came for deaths per miles driven.

About 1.46 people die in the state for every 100 million miles driven. The good news is that number has been dropping for the state and is down 37 percent since 1994.

The site also found that the southern region of the United States is among the worst for driving with five states ranking in the top ten.
