TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - The Tucson Unified School District confirmed some tense moments Monday, May 12, at a school after a student brought a toy gun to campus.

The TUSD said it happened at Hudlow Elementary, which is located at 502 North Caribe Avenue. The area is near Kolb and Broadway.

In a statement to 13 News, the TUSD said:

“This afternoon, we received a report that a student brought a toy weapon to school that appeared to be a real firearm. The student showed it to another student in class, then placed it in a trash can in the boys’ restroom. A teacher immediately reported the incident to the administration, and the item was quickly located. School Safety and TPD were notified. At no time were students in danger.”

“We take these matters very seriously and appreciate our staff’s quick response to help keep students safe. We encourage all parents and guardians to speak with their children about the seriousness of bringing any type of weapon or look-alike weapon to school and the potential consequences involved.”
