TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — A child and a woman were rushed to the hospital after a car came crashing into their backyard Sunday evening.

Around 6:30 p.m., officers responded to the area of Baseline and Rural roads for reports of a crash. When they arrived, they found a car that had crashed into a house’s backyard wall.

Police say two people outside, a child and a woman, were hit by the car. Both of them were taken to the hospital.

The child has serious injuries, but the woman is expected to be OK.

Police believe that impairment may have been a factor in the crash.
