FBI joins search for retired Air Force major general who has been missing for nearly 2 weeks

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KOAT) - The FBI has joined the search for a high-ranking retired U.S. Air Force major general.

Sixty-eight-year-old Major Gen. William Neil McCasland has been missing for nearly two weeks.

Authorities said he left his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on foot on Feb. 27 and has not been in contact with family or friends since.

McCasland also left his cellphone behind.

A Silver Alert has been issued in his disappearance.

McCasland once commanded a base long associated with UFO lore.

McCasland’s disappearance came just days after President Donald Trump announced on social media that he was directing federal agencies to release government records related to extraterrestrial life and UFOs.
