TUCSON, AZ (KOLD) - It's been nearly two years since Alexis Nunez was shot and killed at a bus stop near 12th Avenue and Bilby.  Police immediately identified Anibal Cordova as the primary suspect in the case.  The suspected killer, now 25 years old, hasn't been seen since.

It's unclear what started the fight around 4 PM that day.  But when 17 year old Alexis Nunez stepped out of his friend's car to talk to Cordova near the bus stop, Cordova reportedly pulled out a gun and shot the teenager at close range.

"If he did it to him...he can do it to anybody else, anybody else."

Christina Serrano is the victim's aunt.  But in her own words--Alexis was more like a son.  Along with her own kids, the two families did everything together, Christina says.  They were especially happy about welcoming the newest addition to their group.

"He has a two year old daughter now," Christina says, shaking her head.  "He was so happy because he was going to be a father."

But Alexis Nunez never got the chance to meet his daughter.  He died before she was born.  And the person accused of killing him, remains a free man to this day.

"Because we know he is running from the police and he's evading capture, we don't know what he will resort to," said Sgt. Judy Allen of the Tucson Police Department.

We're told the suspect is probably laying low in Mexico.  But because he has ties to Tucson, he could be coming back from time to time.

If you have any information about Anibal Cordova, you're asked to call 911 or 88 Crime, the Pima County Attorney's anonymous tip line.  A reward up to $1,000 will go to the person whose tip leads to an arrest in this unsolved case.

"I just want him to turn himself in," Christina Serrano says.  "I mean, it's already been two years...that's too much."

Sgt. Allen agrees, adding, "We certainly feel that for the safety of the community, and for the family receiving some closure and to put some finalization onto this case we would like to see him captured as soon as possible."
